Martin Warren – Memorial Service

Martin’s funeral took place on Monday 11th May and his memorial service was held on July 4th, at 2pm, in Wells Cathedral. A few of those who knew Martin well were able to be present to celebrate his choral life in the Cathedral.

The service was sung by both Wells Cathedral Chamber Choir, and by a combined choir of Costanzi Consort and Harmonia Sacra. The retiring collection was for the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust. Online donations can still be made in memory of Martin at www.wcct.co.uk/donate

Founder Members Robert Huxford and Iain Nisbet

The service was followed by a special peal of bells in his memory.

Singers joined in to sing Bach’s O Jesu Christ, meins lebens licht (OUP European Sacred Music, p28) .

‘Martin’s apparent nonchalant air masked a much deeper side to his character: he was compassionate, understanding, and nonjudgemental. Deeply sensitive to the needs of others, he responded accordingly — always quietly and undemonstratively, privately and confidentially. What better friend could I ever wish for.’
